Liaflor / Clay Pellets / Hydroton / Leca (Small).   pH stabilized and releases practically no minerals into the nutrient stream; in other words  completely inert – except for offering excellent moisture and oxygen capacity to stimulate healthy root development.

Benefits of LECA
    • Optimal Aeration: The porous nature of the clay allows oxygen to reach the root system easily.
  • Moisture Control: LECA absorbs excess water and releases it gradually as the plant needs it, protecting roots from becoming waterlogged.
  • Pest & Odor Free: Because it is an inorganic, mineral-based medium, it eliminates common soil pests (like fungus gnats) and odor.
  • Reusable: Unlike soil, clay pebbles do not break down over time. They can be washed, sterilized, and used repeatedly.
How to Use LECA
  1. Prepare: Soak newly purchased LECA balls in water for 24 hours and rinse thoroughly to remove clay dust. 
  2. Setup: Place the cleaned LECA in a waterproof vessel (pot with no drainage holes). Place your plant’s roots gently among the balls, ensuring they are anchored. 
  3. Watering: Fill the bottom of the container with a water and hydroponic/liquid fertilizer mixture so that it is roughly one third full. Since LECA contains no nutrients, supplying liquid fertilizer is vital for plant growth. 
  4. Maintenance: Regularly flush and rinse the LECA balls every few weeks to prevent salt and mineral buildup.
